Shedeur Sanders Gets Drafted By The Browns - Does He Have A Chance To Start?

It finally happened! Shedeur Sanders, who had 1st Round aspirations fell all the way out of the first four rounds. ESPN didn't do a smooth job handling the matter.

A lot has been made of his interviews and slide in the draft, but let's talk inside the white lines.

Deshaun Watson has started but been a massive disappointment. He also tore his achillies and will miss most of, if not the entire season.

Dillon Gabriel is a rookie out of Oregon that most draft analysts had ranked behind Shedeur Sanders.

Kenny Pickett was a 1st Round pick a few years ago but has been pretty bad and is now on his third team.

Joe Flacco did have some moments for Cleveland and led them to the playoffs two years ago, but at 40 years old, he is not the long-term answer.

And now you have Shedeur Sanders. And while he wasn't a day one or even day two pick, he has exactly what Kevin Stefanski likes in Quarterbacks. Mental processing. He may not have elite physical traits, but he knows where he wants to go with the ball and is decisive. Does he need to take fewer sacks and more accountability? Certainly you can point to those as areas of improvement. But as far as the future, he has the brightest future of any signal caller on the Browns roster.

Most teams only carry three Quarterbacks on the roster with one being an emergency QB. With Deshaun Watson on IR, one of the Gabriel, Pickett, Flacco, Sanders will likely be cut before the season starts.

But of this group, Sanders has the biggest upside. Look for him to start at some point this season.
